Concrete Removal Services

Most concrete jobs come down to the same three things: break it out, load it up and get it out of there. What changes is how much there is, how thick it is and what's sitting around it. Here's what each of our services actually involves.

Driveway removal

Driveways crack, heave and sink. Sometimes it's roots, sometimes the ground settled, and sometimes the driveway's just old and you're tired of looking at it.

We cut clean lines where the new concrete will meet the old, like at the garage or the sidewalk, so the edge that stays is straight. Then we break out what's going and haul every load.

When we're done, you're left with a clean base, ready for the next pour or for pavers.

Not sure the whole thing needs to go? If only a few sections are cracked or sunken, it's worth asking whether a partial removal makes more sense. We'll talk it through with you when you call.

What changes the scope

  • The size of the driveway and how thick the concrete is
  • Whether there's rebar or wire mesh inside
  • Whether only part of it is coming out, which means more saw cutting
  • How close a truck and equipment can get to it

Patio, sidewalk and step removal

Smaller jobs still need the right tools. We remove patios, sidewalks, walkways and porch steps, and we protect the lawn and landscaping around them.

Most of these are done in a day. Steps take a little more care, since they usually sit right up against the house.

What changes the scope

  • A backyard patio with tight side access, where everything has to come out a narrow path
  • Steps poured solid versus steps built over fill
  • Pavers, rock or plantings right at the edge that you want left alone

Slab and footing removal

Old shed and garage slabs, hot tub pads, footings and foundations take real equipment. They're usually thicker than a patio, and footings go down into the ground.

We bring the breaker and the excavator, pull the rebar and haul it all. The site is left level and clean, whether you're planting grass, setting a new shed or building something else.

What changes the scope

  • Thickness, and whether there are footings under the edges
  • How much steel is in it
  • Anything running under it, like old pipes or conduit, so tell us what you know

Concrete hauling

Already broke it yourself? That's the hard part. We'll load the pile and haul it away the same day. Is it in the backyard? That's fine, just tell us how we'd get to it.

The size of the pile matters most here, along with how far it is from where we can park. If it's mixed with dirt, rock or trash, mention that when you call, because clean concrete is much easier to recycle.

Where your concrete goes

Clean concrete gets crushed and reused as base rock, so we haul it to a recycler instead of the landfill. Rebar and wire mesh go to metal recycling.

It's a better use for the material than burying it, and it keeps disposal costs down too.

How to get ready

A little prep makes the day go smoother. Here's what helps:

  • Move cars, furniture, grills and planters off the concrete and out of the path
  • Mark sprinkler heads, lines and anything else buried that you know about
  • Get buried utility lines marked before any digging starts
  • Let your neighbors know if trucks will be parked on the street
  • Keep kids and pets inside while the breaker is running
  • If the bigger project includes a new pour, check with your HOA or city first

There's a longer checklist and answers to common questions on our resources page. Not sure we cover your town? See our service areas. Or just get in touch and tell us about your job.
